This post makes me sad and it doesn't sound at all like my confident husband. Given the time frame the pictures are good and I think your expectations are unrealistic. You have been working your butt off and had little time to shoot, just a few hours. That being said it is a work trip and not a photo trip and if you are getting that frustrated that you want to give it all up just separate the two. Hopefully you got a good nights rest and have your happy face back on :) There is still Hungry and Milan and its not like your planning on giving up the road anytime soon. You'll get it done because that's what you do. Keep your chin up.

I love you babe!

With CLS, the on camera flash will still fire regardless whether you tell it to or not. It just doesn't contribute to the exposure. It does a bunch of pre flashes to communicate to the remote flashes and these are noticable by the subject, who still reacts to them.
I'm now using the PW ControlTL system with the AC3 zone controller. Much nicer thab the old RP set I was using, but still has drawbacks. A biggie is that you can't mix radio and flash communication like you can with the RP system. That I miss. I'm also not wild about the TTL results I've been getting, so I'm now in the Hobby camp of using manual expose, but I set it wirelessly, 'cos I'm really lazy. This is working really well for me. If you do go back to the RP's and are using the ControlTL for Nikon, I can help you out with a home for your system :)

I'm confused by your statements. With cls you can set the on camera flash to not fire. Couldn't you have just done that?
I had the radiopopper px and hated the mounting bracket on the receiving flash that I returned them and bought the pocketwizards. I honestly miss the radiopoppers. I much prefer the mounting and build and look of the pocketwizards, but the results with the raiopoppers were so effortless. I think I might go back to rp's.

Thanks for the comment Rizwan. The SW pro is exactly the same as the SW HD except for the depth due to the laptop compartment. If you don't need the capacity for a laptop, the SW Pro will serve you well. I can attest to the ruggedness and durability of the bags (see my post on the UD60). Let me know how you get on with your choice.
Regards,
Jason

Hey there Jason. Got to know about your blog from ThinkThank's tweet. Thinking (no pun intended :)) to get TTP's SW Pro or HD soon. Using a Crumpler shoulder bag which I adore but lately has been overwhelmed..

Every modern pack has Velcro adjustable compartments. For weather protection the ThinkTank pack uses a rain cover that stretches over the bag, which I prefer over trying to weatherproof the bag itself. The issue of equipment accessibility is totally addressed by having lens bags hanging off the belt. Totally reduces the time to switch lenses and greatly improves functionality. As always, your milage may vary.........

Wife and I have something similar to this made by Lowepro I think... it has all sort of bungee webbing on the front and rubberized, weatherproof zippers and a place to tie a modest sized tripod or monopod. I like it because the compartments are velcro shiftable, so you can completely customize the inside. My wife doesn't like to get too complex with her camera, but she likes her Lumix SLR so the big camera compartment usually fits that camera and my Pentax SLR fits in it's own compartment with the lenses removed. The problem is access. As my wife's camera needs are simple, she ends up becoming my equipment mule...
