Tiger Kingdom, Chiang Mai, Thailand

While in Thailand I had the opportunity to visit the Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai. I’d read about it on the Internet, with some people commenting that the tigers are drugged, which I absolutely refute. The big ones were relatively sedentary, but given that tigers are nocturnal, this isn’t a surprise. I started with 6-8 month old cubs, then onto the young juvenile cats, followed by a visit to the big young adults. You can’t visit the adults that are over 3 years old, they tend to treat visitors as lunch.

I had fun watching these two play in a pool.

They are brother and sister, and the female is much more agressive. She opened a can of whoop ass on her brother!

This tiger decided to laze on a tree branch and watch the goings on with feline disdain.

I also got to spend some time with the small cubs, a few months old. This one was definitely perky!

I really enjoyed my visit to Tiger Kingdom. I was lucky to see some cats being very active, as I can appreciate visitors thinking that they are drugged if all they do is sleep. Given the cats nature, I was privileged to enjoy their company for a couple of hours. While they are captive, that has to be better than dead in the wild. I would recommend anyone to visit Tiger Kingdom and see for themselves. Yes it is a commercial operation, but still a valid conservation effort.
